Halton Group has set its sustainability target to become operationally carbon neutral by the end of 2023. To support this goal, Halton Oy has applied for EcoVadis assessment to understand its current level of operations, and where improvements are still needed. EcoVadis has been chosen as a platform, as it provides good coverage and serves as an excellent benchmarking tool.

“We are very pleased to have reached silver-level certification. Most of all, we want to serve our customers even better by demonstrating documented evidence of our sustainability efforts. We see it as our responsibility to help fulfil our customers’ sustainability goals by doing our part. We are by no means ready. This is a continuous journey of constant improvement and conscious decisions we make every day”, says Supply Chain Director, Kaisa Säde.

Halton follows the company-wide sustainability strategy when making decision about further improvements. The first milestone has now been reached and further improvements are planned in day-to-day activities based on the EcoVadis report.

EcoVadis builds on international standards such as the Global Reporting Index (GRI), ISO 26000 and the guiding principles of the Global Compact. Companies applying for EcoVadis certification are rated based on documented evidence of material sustainability in proportion to the location, size, and industry of the company.

The company sustainability performance is evaluated on a scale from 0-100. Based on the score, a bronze, silver, or gold medal is granted to the company. The tool also offers a way of benchmarking one’s performance in the industry.
